Creative Decor: Glitterized Frames

Signs, Word Art and Pictures are a perfect way to tie a theme together, whilst imparting information in a subtle, fun way. My favourite medium to use is 'Word', you can download suitable fonts and then create fun signage or quotes. Now what to put these signs or pictures into can sometimes pose a problem. You don't want to spend a fortune on fancy frames for just one event (although, any serious handmade party-planner will have a stash of props that can be re-used for the next party!) With that in mind my top tip is to buy inexpensive plain frames and decorate them. They can then be repurposed for the next theme with a little paint and embellishments..

Today I am sharing a quick and easy way to add a bit of glitz and glamour to the Ikea Tolsby frame.

A fab frame in its own right, I have seen these utilised at parties many a time on my visits around the web. But sometimes a little glitter is required!

Fine glitter works best for this project. Mix in an ample amount with some clear-drying glue and simply 'paint' it on with a brush.

Leave to dry, then give another coat. 3 - 4 coats gives a nice even finish.

You can also paint your frame first with your chosen colour to give a more solid colour-base. The glue will dry clear to leave a beautiful glitterized frame. And because the glitter was mixed in to the glue, you have no worries about the glitter flaking off.

Pink and Gold made the perfect combination and added some royal glamour to our Princess Cake Table. A silver one would be perfect for a Winter-themed party or a red one at a Christmas Celebration or a Wizard of Oz themed party. The possibilities are endless - all you need is a sprinkling of glitter and a bit of imagination.
